Visiting Vienna for a weekend or longer? Looking for something a bit off the trodden paths? Want to chat to a local and find out what people do in Vienna?

I come from Austria/ Vienna originally, but have just recently returned to the city after spending many years living and working in the UK (Bristol, London, North England). I would love to offer visitors coming from the UK (and elsewhere, of course!) to experience the city – and perhaps some of the surrounding countryside – from a slightly different and perhaps lightly more interesting perspective. And, of course, I miss Britain and the British myself and would love ‘mediate between the cultures’ a tiny little bit.

What I offer:

- Walk & talk& see : guided personal walking tours around areas slightly off the touristy centres. I will tell you about what goes on there, who lives there, history and recent developments, arts, history and music and everyday life. This can be an area of interest that you have found yourself, or a route that I suggest or that we discuss together. ‘Walk & talk’ tours can be tailored to your wishes, and can last from 1 hour to half a day or even longer.

- Hike & talk; hike & talk & swim. Vienna is surrounded by the Vienna Woods, and boasts many green areas and woodland where people go hiking and jogging. Also, we like to seize every opportunity to go for a swim in the side arms of the Danube (‘wild swimming’ as one likes to call it in Britain). I offer half-day walks to lovely viewing points outside Vienna (all can be easily reached by public transport), with subsequent swims. I will suggest and discuss destinations with you according to your availability and interest.

- Language walk & talks: If you would like to practise your German language skills, I can offer a ‘language conversation tour’ which gives you an opportunity to practise and improve your language skills (I also used to work in language teaching in the UK – German and English).

Rates & how to book: Rates vary according to number of participants and type of walk. For city walks between £15 -£25/ hour, between £50 - £70 for a half-day walk. Simply send me an email and state what your interests are and how much time you would like to spend with me as your guide, and I will be able to call you and/ or email you back with my suggestions. (Not advance payments or the like).

It will be a pleasure to hear from you & discuss your stay!
